Anniversary Speech 2008
To those of The Dragoon Brotherhood,
One summer in 2006, I purchased a game called The Matrix Online, I didn’t like it within the first few hours, but things picked up. In one week it already had a drastic hold of my life, I was addicted to logging on for my Captain, I was playing until the early hours of the morning, and I couldn’t get enough. Sitting here now, one Saturday evening, I am well aware that it got much more involved in my life than that!
Two years later I sit here, a changed man. I am still young as many of you have known, so naturally a lot of things have happened to me in that front, I have in my time however adapted everything to suit the Dragoons. Am I mad? Perhaps, but then the rewards that has popped out has been incredible.
I have met several Dragoons in the real world, and would like to meet as many as possible. I have met someone amazing and I have fallen in love, and these people that play the game that moved to Age Of Conan, I talk to more than even my family! What drives me is not the game, or even the internet, it’s YOU, the people that make and shape this guild and make us something completely different.
The past year since my last anniversary message popped through my keyboard and onto your screens. Whether you were interested or not is irrelevant, frankly because the events were felt by all, and in honesty, no words, letters, or any speeches can truly describe how amazing these experiences are.
Throughout the past year we have seen our belief of being the greatest tested, not because we were weaker, but because we grew even stronger. We saw players Deathwarrant and FAQ, Razuache and even Vosiler join us to make us not only server wide, but game wide famous. The strength of the players through all it’s aspects helped us to run a league across every single server among the biggest of players. We had liaisons, moderators, pvp gods, and more importantly we were strong for each other! We had bad times, some even terrible, we lost an under boss and lost some of our oldest members. We lost dignity and had to grind our teeth through places that seemed impossible. TOGETHER we conquered this, and TOGETHER we carried on through to our eventual leaving of the Matrix, to the beginning of our new life in Conan.
Of course, nothing is finalised, in fact things are even fresher with the Dragoons than it was this time last year. We have a lot of work to do, new frontiers to journey forth, and new people to enjoy, and work hard through. We can though take everything we are, our morals, our ideals, and more importantly our COMMUNITY and BROTHERHOOD through to the future of the Dragoons in Conan, gaming and beyond.
Times have changed a lot since the days of 2007, a lot are gone, a lot have come, but one thing hasn’t changed and that is the love I have for the players, which I value as friends, brothers, and even more in some cases! I thank you deeply for the times we have shared, and I ask you one favour and that is to appreciate each other, and respect our Guild name, it is truly a special thing we have here and I promise I will try my best to point the Guild in the best direction, I just need you to drive it and make it happen. I maybe leader, but without YOU nothing can truly happen! We all make this Guild and we should make this guild even more successful! Based on the past couple of years? I would say we have an even brighter future to come!
Your leader, brother, and loyal servant,
