NBA 2k11 - My Player Playoffs 2010-2011 Season

Dragoons!

As some of you know I have been playing the My Player mode for NBA 2k11. The mode unlike other sports games, focuses only on your player. You play just as you and you are surrounded by other players. You have to play your position well, and are rated for everything you do. The better you perform the more likely you will play for your team and rack up skill points to buy more skills with. The worse you play, the chances are you will be removed or traded from the team.

My first season I was drafted to the Sacramento Kings and we struggled hard going down 11 losses in a row. Having been so frustrated, I requested a trade and moved to New York Knicks, where they too were on a losing streak. However we clawed our way back and after an extremely narrow and intense finish, finished 8th in the conference and made it to Playoffs!

New York Knicks at Miami Heat - First Round Game 1

Game 1 rolled into the American Airlines center for no doubt a huge challenge against Miami Heat, an amazing striking team and they proved it all the way. They downed basket after basket going 16 up at one stage in the second period, extremely early, and worrying for us. However we buckled down and fought hard to recover the lead, and we were making fast progress. By the end of the third we had practically caught them, it was in the forth we passed and eventually won. An amazing comeback against MVP's Lebron James' Heat to set a statement. Doesn't matter if you're the best team in the East, we will still drop you.

After being pumped up due to honestly the surprising win in Game 1. Like the last game we went down early and were tailing them for most of the first and part of the second. However the gap wasn't as severe and we caught up much faster. What was different was that we just kept on scoring and they were diabolical in defence and offense. We completely dominated the match, and perhaps the telling factor of Heat was Lebron James was nowhere in the game. A dominating finish put us 2-0 up in the series with two home games coming up in New York.

Things couldn't be better for us.

Like the first two games Miami took it to us, unlike the other two games however they maintained their dominance. We never really looked alive, with some of us making some awful plays resulting in some terrible performances, including myself. Real angry and dissapointed in this one, letting Heat get a win is a terrible idea.

Miami Heat at New York Knicks - First Round Game 4

In this game for the first time Miami didn't dominate the first two periods. We practically ruled this game with Lebron James once again playing terribly. Even better news surfaced during the game as one of the big three, Dwayne Wade went off injured for 2-4 weeks and would miss the rest of the series. This was massive news. Although we ruled the game, they kept up the whole way, but in the forth we finished them off winning by ten.

The series was now pretty much ours, they needed to win the next three games in a row to win the series, but if any team can do it, it is Miami, and they do have home court advantage for the next match.

Once again we took control, but Lebron James came to play and led his team to a strong match. We were exceptional but so were they. They wore us down and punished us with some great plays. Once we lost our lead in the second they never looked back and won the game bringing game 6 on the horizon.

It's still ours to lose, but things are getting little more uncomfortable.

From start to finish we absolutely dominated Miami, in all of my career I have never dominated one team so hard as what we dominated these guys. Lebron James was on fire but it wasn't enough as our team was collectively too strong, at one stage we were over 24 ahead! A negative did come out of the game as Carmelo Anthony limped off injured but although we will miss him for the start of the Semis, he will be back in time for Game 3 or 4.

We are through, we are only the fifth team in history to knock out a number 1 seed in the first round, how far can we go?

New York Knicks at Chicago Bulls - Conference Semi Finals Game 1

Just like the last game against Miami we dominated. Chicago never looked into the game to be honest, the only time they started coming back was the final quarter and a half when we slacked a bit, but nonetheless this victory was easily ours. Derick Rose their star player however was on the ball, which is worrying for us.

Great start to set the tone for the series.

Once again we were really on top here and just really took it to them. I personally felt great in the first quarter but there were some worrying signs. For one, we started slacking, and although we did score, we just looked off-key for a lot longer than game 1 in the series. However the win is brilliant, it means we go 2-0 up with two home games coming. Can't get better than that!

Our lethagic play finally hit back as we fell here to Chicago. We did fight back and keep up with their strong play, but overall it just wasn't enough. Derick Rose was brilliant as he dominated the game basically winning it for them. Series is going similar to Miami, let's hope we can get the win in game 4, and not have to worry about a 2-2 stage.

Finally we were back to our standard as we defeated Chicago in Game 4. They looked dominant at first going 14-5 up extremely quickly, but we buckled down and they couldn't contain us, not even Derrick Rose! We were 3-1 up heading to Chicago with a great chance to win the series. Like Miami they have to win 3 in a row to go through. Miami couldn't do it, can Chicago?

We took firm control here and won this match in decent sense. Looking over this series, Chicago never really looked into it, apart from two games against Miami every game was extremely close, but Chicago were just quiet through the whole series. The only win they had was mainly because we slacked.

So here we are, we won again and go through to the Conference Finals against Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks have beaten us constantly, and although on paper they are the worse side yet, they are just difficult to beat. Not to mention they have knocked out the Celtics and Atlanta, the team I viewed as the best in the East!

We were playing brilliantly at the start of the game but in the second we stumbled slightly and let them back into it. They tore through our defence with brillaint plays, and although we weren't playing badly, they were difficult to break down. Towards the 4th it was getting difficult to score, but the game remained tight the entire match. In the end one late basket would decide it and we would lose.

For the first time in my playoff career and our season we are down in the series. It's still early but winning the next game will be imperitive.

The game started out like the last game finished. An extremely tight affair with the game staying within two points. In the third however we finally got our game going and as we started scoring there was no holding back. It seemed the more buckets we dropped, the better we got, and we won rampantly towards the end.

The jitters subsided and the series tied. Although it's all even, we will now return back to New York for two games with the momentum on our side!

Game 3 was at home and after our win we hoping to decimate here. Milwaukee had other plans, Sessions and Jennings were superb for the Bucks, as the team overhauled us. We kept up with them, but we couldn't touch them and we fell once again, in Game 3. Our field goal % was terrible, and that's probably what killed us as when I wasn't on in the second, we could only net 2 baskets which is terrible.

So we go 2-1 down, it's not over by a long shot, but the Bucks were proving to be extremely tough. This is the Conference finals, what did we expect?

Milwaukee Bucks at New York Knicks - Conference Finals Game 4

The best game of the entire playoffs happened today as we had a most amazing match. During the game it was just as tight except we replaced the Bucks in being the slightly better side. We went on two high scoring spurts, but everytime the Bucks patiently worked their way back. In the dying seconds of the game we went down after leading and it looked like we were out. However a 3 was scored to tie, and right before the end Stoudamire stopped a dead on shot to take us to Overtime. In OT we started again strong, but everytime they fought back until AGAIN we went down by 3 this time with 4.4 seconds to go! I was angry at this point, losing here would mean we would probably be out as winning three against such a great team is very difficult. However, up stepped Anthony and he downed a 3 to tie the game. OT 2 changed things as this time we finally maitained a lead, time went past and the match was ours.

So a tiring must win match ties the series 2-2, with a minimum of two more games to come. This is an exciting well fought series. We have also discovered that the Dallas Mavericks has destroyed San Antonio, meaning the winner of our series will play them in the NBA FINALS.

So the almighty Game 5 had come. For one team it would mean a tight, yet comfortable, advantage and 1 game away from the FINALS. For the other a long battle to reclaim victory. This game started out strangely tight. Both of us couldn't hit a ball, in the second both got no more than 4pts even! However business picked up in the third as we took a commanding lead and held onto it the duration of the game. Game 4 had been exhausting, and it seems the Bucks are tired, they were extremely flat.

We take the lead 3-2, we only need 1 win to make it to the FINALS, and our next game is in New York. One can hope...

So the big game rolled out and straight from the start we completely dominated and decimated them. I don't know what has happened to the Bucks but they looked a shadow of the side that was extremely tough to break down. Nonetheless we had won and we were in the NBA FINALS!!!

I never imagined we would make it this far especially considering the season we have had, but here we were going into the FINALS as the Eastern Champions. The biggest challenge yet though comes in the form of the Dallas Mavericks, who were by far the best team I have played. They are favourites, but when did that stop us?!

Game 1 rolled in and we started in strong fashion smashing them back and taking a heavy lead, things were going great, until they actually started. They pushed hard and a few bad plays by us granted a tied game. In the second half the Mavericks really put it to us, and when they took the lead, they didn't lose it. They were too much for us and we fell in game 1 away from home.

Dallas wasn't as dominating as I perhaps believed instead they just got the job done, and well at that. Perhaps that right there should be the biggest worry for us.

The Mavs were really hard to play against today, their D was exceptional, double-teaming and cutting me off, and with poor shooting we really struggled. We kept up, but brilliant performances by Nowitzki and Jason Kidd hit hard. In the end they were too much and we fell in game 2.

Things have gotten far tougher, we have never been down 2-0 and I do have faith we can comeback, but this team is extremely strong, and it will be a tough battle. We do have three home games upcoming, if we can do the unthinkable and win all three, things could get far more interesting.

From start to finish we absolutely DESTROYED the Mavs. In a game we needed to win, we absolutely turned up and boy did we over-run them. In every way, defensively, offensively we slaugtered them, we never looked back from an excellent start and that's all that needs to be said. Everyone of us was excellent, and everyone of them was awful.

So we move within 1 game. We still need to maintain a winning form, and after such a great game this will greatly help. Tying the series 2-2 is still utterly important. Going down 3-1 will not help.

In a do or die game for us, we once again controlled well, shutting out Nowitzki for alot of the first half and holding their team back. Unlike Game 3, this was'nt such a white wash, they kept up and nearly scared us several times but nonetheless the game was ours.

I am really pleased, so far both of us have won our home games, and if this remains the case we can grab a win to go 3-2 up which will be huge. The last two games are in Dallas, and we have never won there, but winning 1 of 2, sounds alot better than winning 2-0 against a side that rarely loses in Dallas.

This game was a very close game. We were in control for the most part but in the forth they put on a great display, just at the end they managed to tie the game. So we went in OT, it was extremely intense and tight, but we held out to win a monumental game.

We had done it we had taken the lead and now needed only 1 win in 2. However to do this we have to beat Dallas away from home, a monumental task that we have never been able to do.

Game 6 rolls in a huge chance for us to win the FINALS, and the game was exceedingly close, too close to bear. We were up by 5 heading into the 4th but the managed to pass us and that was it. We lost and will play Game 7 to decide it away from home.

Absolutely gutted we lost, but we can still win in 7, whatever happens next game, it's win or go home.

So the mighty do or die Game 7 had arrived, and it started off really tight. I was trying my best to score as much as possible and it worked. We took a 16 point lead leading into the 4th and a huge chance to win. Mavs fought back though, bringing the game to 9, but it was not enough, we defeated and won the game.

So there we have it, WE WON! I still cannot believe that this horseshit team of mine won But we did it, my season my first victory!
