Does the size of the community we play with matter to you? For example, is it appealing that WoW has such a large community?

Yes and no, in most mmo's your divided into servers anyways which are smaller sub communities, so as long as the amount of players is at a healthy level it's ok for me, playing a game with 11 mill subscribers with 5k per server or a game with 100k subscribers with 5k per server is the same for me.

Once every zone is dead or it takes 4 houres of queue's for whatever you want to do ye then thats a problem.

As Soler said, as long as there is a healthy number of players it doesn't realy matter how many.
