NJPW G1 Climax 2015 Empty NJPW G1 Climax 2015

The annual G1 Climax has come. This round robin tournament features some of the best talent Japan and some other promotions has to offer. From 5 star matches, to enthralling encounters, this tournament has everything a wrestling fan could want.

It works like this, there are two blocks, A and B. Within these blocks a group of wrestlers will face each other in a round robin style tournament. The winner from each Block advances to the final, where the winner will be crowned the G1 Climax Champion, and get a shot at the World Championship and Wrestle Kingdom, their Wrestlemania.

This is a mouth watering festival, and with my favourite, the Champion Okada, facing Nakumura? Awesome.

Block A

AJ Styles
Bad Luck Fale
Doc Gallows
Hiroshi Tanahashi
Hiroyoshi Tenzan
Katsuyori Shibata
Kota Ibushi
Tetsuya Naito
Togi Makabe
Toru Yano

Round One

Hiroyoshi Tenzen def. Doc Gallows
Togi Makabe def. Toru Yano
Tetsuya Naito def. Bad Luck Fale
Katsuyori Shibata def by. AJ Styles
Hiroshi Tanahashi def. Kota Ibushi

Tenzen and Gallows had a fascinating match that saw Tenzen survive a viscious beating to stay alive and make Gallows submit. Makabe was almost beat by the trickset Yano, but Yano couldn't stop this beast and fell. Naito came in with a black suit and a skull mask, call me intrigued. He beat fucking Fale as well, this guy maybe a dark horse. Shibata and Styles had a good match with Styles grabbing the win, he's a favourite for this tournament and got a good start. The main event saw Tanahashi and Ibushi have a fucking great match, Tanahashi won after an intense ending. Disappointing for Ibushi, but that is life.

Round Two

Kota Ibushi def. Doc Gallows
Togi Makabe def by. Bad Luck Fale
Toru Yano def by. AJ Styles
Katsuyori Shibata def. Tetsuya Naito
Hiroshi Tanahashi def. Hiroyoshi Tenzen

The opening match saw Ibushi, a highly favoured wrestler, get his first win after losing to Tanahashi. Doc Gallows became the first man to lose twice in this tournament. Makabe dropped a match against Bad Luck Fale who got a much deserved and surprising win over the NEVER weight champion. Yano tried his best to get his outsmarting moves on, but AJ Styles was too cunning and remains undefeated. Shibata and Naito had the match of the night as Naito's new attitude wasn't enough, Shibata fought hard, and like a man, to win and grab his first win. In the main event Tenzen impressed, and challenged Tanahashi greatly, but great as he fought, he is not Tanahashi. Tanahashi did was needed, bore the attack, and won, to remain undefeated, along with AJ Styles.

Round Three

Doc Gallows def by. Bad Luck Fale
Hiroshi Tenzan def by. Toru Yano
Togi Makabe def by. Tetsuyori Shibata
Kota Ibushi def. AJ Styles
Hiroshi Tanahashi def by. Tetsuya Naito

The battle of the Bullet Club opened with Doc Gallows losing YET again, Fale moves to 2-1. Tenzan gave Yano his first victory after being outsmarted, shame for Tenzan. Makabe suffered a tough loss against a very impressive and ambitious Shibata. Ibushi needed a win and got a massive one ending AJ Styles win streak to go tied top. Tanahashi also lost his streat, losing in a great and physical match against Naito, making Block A full of 2-1s. Gonna be awesome to see how it goes!

Block B

Hirooki Goto
Karl Anderson
Kazuchika Okada
Michael Elgin
Satoshi Kojima
Shinsuke Nakamura
Tomoaki Honma
Tomohiro Ishii
Yuji Nagata
Yujiro Takahashi

Round One

Satoshi Kojima def by. Tomohiro Ishii
Hirooki Goto def. Yujiro Takahashi
Yuji Nagata def. Tomoaki Honma
Kazuchika Okada def. Michael Elgin
Shinsuke Nakamura def by. "The Machine Gun" Karl Anderson

The opening match saw Ishii storm through in what was an interesting match up, giving Block B's brawler a good start. Goto and Takahashi had a good clash, but the favourite, Intercontinental Champion Goto got the win, one of the big hitters of this Block. Nagata defeated old timer Honma in a good win to start his journey. Current World Champion Okada defeated the impressive Ring of Honour representive, Okada is gunning to win this tournament. In the final match Karl Anderson shockingly defeated Nakamura in what was a dominant performance. This is a strong start against an excellent opponent, already making Block B very exciting!

Round Two

Tomohiro Ishii def. Yujiru Takahashi
Satoshi Kojima def. Michael Elgin
Hirooki Goto def by. "The Machine Gun" Karl Anderson
Yuji Nagata def by. Shinsuke Nakamura
Tamoaki Honma def by. Kazuchika Okada

The opening match was a strong opener with Takahashi doing really well against Ishii, it wasn't enough though as Ishii remained undefeated. Kojima crushed RoH's representive, Michael Elgin to grab his first win. Elgin is now 0-2 for ROH. Goto and Karl Anderson met in a mouth watering clash, but again Anderson dominated to win. That's two massive contenders he's not only dropped, but dominated. Nagata fought valiantly in the match of the night against Nakamura, but one of the heavy favourites, Nakamura got his first win in a great match. In the main event Honma put up a good challenge against the IWGP Champion Okada, but Okada remained steadfast, staying strong throughout, to remain undefeated.
