The Highs And Lows Of Guild Wars 2 Graphics
Low vs. Max is a Youtube channel dedicated entirely to showing off the graphics of games, more specifically comparing low settings to high settings. The always informative and usually eye opening videos are accompanied by quasi-professional narration describing the testing, as well as a listing of the system specifications for the test machine.
After the first Beta Weekend Event, they decided to take a crack at showing a comparison of Guild Wars 2. As with other videos, it shows an A/B comparison in 1080P resolution so you can really see the difference side by side in as high of a quality as possible without sitting in front of your own rig.
The system specs for their test machine were as follows:
i7 2600K Sandy Bridge @ 3.4
XFX Radeon HD 6870 Graphics Card
ASUS P8P67 EVO Mobo
8 GB Gskill Ripjaws X RAM
APEVIA X-JUPITER G-Type Full Tower Case
700 Watt Xion PSU
500 GB Western Digital HDD
1.5 TB Seagate HDD
2 TB Western Digital HDD
Patriot Pyro 60GB SATA III MLC
64-bit Windows 7
It’s interesting to see some of the differences in texture resolution, distance and in some cases even colors between the two extremes. Keep in mind this is Beta and ArenaNet is still working to optimize the visuals. It can only get better from here, and it’s already pretty striking!
