Re: Heh Rider
I remember my first days with the Dragoons where an experience that would change my outlook about MMOs forever. I was very apprehensive about joining any guild at the time, cause of my age and a personal aversion to the type of asshole that are plentiful in MMOs.
Ironically I was to be approached from one of the youngest Dragoons ever at the time, SetoChang, who with his cool demeanor and recruiting talent hinted that some peeps in these newly promoted MMOs where not social cripples and where actualy intriguing personalities, worth of more of my attention.
Keep in mind that this whole exchange went through game chat as vent was not used yet. The recruiting interview moved along smoothly and I was to be screened by a higher official in the guild as to validate my recruitment. Although I was not told that it would be the guild leader that would interview me next, Seto did not clarify, I was pretty sure that was what would follow. After a small delay I was ported to a strange place (for a noob) and left alone to wait for the official with the reassurance that someone will be with me shortly.
When Hidden appeared almost out of nowhere, dressed impeccably and with dark purple computer code dancing around his avatar I remember saying to myself "wow, now that's an entrance fit for a leader", pretty sure that I was right in my observations.
After I few minutes into the interview I started doubting myself as this visually impressive person, did not display the veiled arrogance and conceit that usually follows self important jackasses in similar positions. Hidden actually was quite humble in his inquiries and was eager to answer any of my questions about his guild and its policies, accepting the simple fact that the interview was going both ways and I was in no hurry to get into something I might later regret. He was vague though whenever I asked about the guild leader, and when I bluntly asked if it is him he politely sidestepped the question.I was quite impressed by his mannerisms and I remember thinking to myself "if he's not the damn leader too bad, cause that's the kind of person I would ACCEPT as my leader!"
When I was finally accepted and everything was made clear, I was pleasantly surprised at how much organized and friendly these "kids" where, taking the game (and its devs) not so seriously but being dead serious when it came to their people, fully aware that although they where playing in a virtual world they where interacting with REAL people who had REAL feelings.
My recruitment with the Dragoon's set me off for an experience that has marked me for life, and imho MMOs would be a much more fullfilling experience if more guilds had a similar modus operandi.
Keep up the good work Hidden, remember the old but also FIGHT for the new!!

Re: Heh Rider
Man.... makes me want to go old school, but our recruitment was very unique, I'm reluctant because it suited MxO perfectly, but would it suit the child spawn infested WoW.
Perhaps I think and worry too much.

No it wouldn't, but they would not suit us either.
