Are you tired of fantasy slash and hack MMOs?

I am, sick of how many games new and present that are being released that are slash and hack. I love getting lost in a world, and I think a slash and hack MMO is good every once in a while, but every single slash and hack MMO seems the same as the last one.

I really enjoy Sci Fi/Modern set MMOs, and always have. MxO is definately the daddy for that, and shall always be until something good is released. I know alot of Dragoons have enjoyed EvE in the past, but I am looking for more, something a bit different. Who knows, maybe TOR will be what I am looking for. At the moment, I must confess, I am enjoying the super hero genre, and cannot wait to go a strong, fast melee class in Champions Online.

Hack and slash sucks big hairy balls. The problem is since the success of WOW its the easy road into MMORPG playing off the back of it. I really dont get the enjoyment of seeing the same wooden animation swinging a sword over and over, MxO's combat system was innovative but got little to no plaudits ok it was "scripted" to an extent but i was to a degree exciting and was snubbed by the WOW crowd who much prefer ponies, elves and swinging a sword endlessly.

Essentially hack and slash is MxO's free attack out of interlock.... YAWN. I had enough of Guild wars due to the boredom of the combat which IMO should be one of the prime aspect of an MMO along with the story hence RPG.

I honestly don't see the MMORPG genre being shook up with something special and new for some time maybe The old republic can do it but i suspect they will stick with the known formula, though thinking about it how cool would light sabre battle's be if they used MxO's interlock system!

The only hack and slash game I liked is Mount & Blade, the combat is simple but realistic and effective, and you don't have to be hunched over your keyboard with 3 pairs of hands all the time. If they added some sort of combo or special attack system to M&B it would be perfect imo.
