New WoD Fanfest articles & information
The video was shown mostly recorded in-game however there was some post processing done to show what they hope the final game will look like
Their version of Carbon/Incarna is using DirectX 11 and they are adding more features from it as development progresses
The engine currently showed, from the outside, building interiors that shifted as the camera angle changed. This is due to their shader tech not added geometry.
The city in game looked dark, brooding, slick from rain and very gothy.
The hopes of playing mortal hunters went down several notches. Chris stated not a lot of effort is going into the mortal only side of the game. “We’re not putting a huge amount of functionality into the mortal game,” McDonough says. It was implied hunters are in the same boat as garou, a expansion at a later date.
It will be "difficult" to die under permadeath rules. Simply dying in combat won't be final death. But details beyond that still remain up in the air and unclear.
WASD is how you move your avatar in game.
The World of Darkness team are also wrestling with a desire to maintain the grim, gothic tone of the classic World of Darkness settings. “We’ve banned the names Edward and Bella and you can’t make your vampire sparkle,” McDonough joked, crushing the dreams of a million Twilight fans.
However no specifics were given on how they intend to stop sir_bigcock, for example, from becoming a prince or elder.
Chris made clear WoD is NOT coming out this year OR next year (2015 it is then at best).
Running around naked in public areas was nerfed during play testing which it became a wide spread issue.
Several systems are not locked down yet hence why some systems have not been talked about details wise.
All the dev members sharing time on EVE and DUST have all moved back to WoD exclusively.
PvE content will maximize player interactions.
When you start the game as mortal you must find another player to embrace you.
They maybe some limits of traveling between cities (like a train you need to catch that only heads out every 30 mins) to prevent on the spot masses of players flooding one area of a city from all over due to a specific event (ie unexpected/planned faction war).
The world will also have NPCs, to make use of and snack from, and players should be able to stay connected with the game and their networks in at least some form via both real-world and in-game cellphones.
